How can a utility effectively evaluate dozens of potential solutions in a 60-day competitive project window?
Traditional methods are extremely time consuming. Developing and modifying a single route was a laborious process that could take months of expert time.
With limited data integration planners could only consider a few data layers (like terrain and major environmental zones) during each iteration. A comprehensive analysis incorporating hundreds of complex factors simultaneously was impossible.
Tedious development restricted the number of projects the utility could confidently evaluate within the tight competitive window, limiting the solutions they could propose.
The process
The deployment objective was to allow consideration of more potential projects by completing route generation and risk analysis as fast as power flow studies could identify candidate solutions. The goal was to increase the portion of the PJM RTEP budget awarded to the customer.
Optioneer was immediately deployed for every potential project in the RTEP window and for retrospective analysis of projects currently in development.
