Optioneer enabled us to efficiently compare multiple design alternatives by rapidly generating and evaluating routing scenarios to inform key decisions. Overall, Optioneer saved time and improved the quality of our analysis, which was particularly helpful on this project as it required alternative comparisons for permitting and tender documentation.

Optioneer provided the transparency and speed we needed—tasks previously taking weeks now happen in hours, without compromising quality. Throughout this development, Optioneer successfully identified optimized routing solutions. Not only for entirely new transmission corridors, but for upgrading existing transmission lines within established rights of way.

Use of the Optioneer Continuum tool was highly successful. The team were very efficient, and the rapid turnaround resulted in clear, well-defined pipeline routing options that supported timely decision-making.

We should ideally be identifying these things before putting schemes into the business plan — and now we are. Optioneer gave us the structured evaluation of alternatives the regulator expects, and the cost confidence we needed entering the price review.

Optioneer enables a good first assessment at routing. It provides more certainty as to whether a route is optimal as well as better alternatives and can save several days work just to get a starting point. It’s a powerful tool and can very quickly provide lots of useful metrics.

I’m very pleased with the result. It would be a lot less time-consuming to start future routes this way. By using Optioneer to get the base route and then applying our expert judgment to fine-tune it, we only need to spend some time finalising routes, rather than building them from scratch.

Optioneer helped the project overcome a program risk and provided detailed overhead line (OHL) alignment options for the proposed wind farm development. The process significantly reduced traditional timescales required for detailed OHL routing and the team at Continuum effectively adapted to the project needs, delivered on time and provided excellent support following the completion of the OHL alignment options.

This has truly been an extraordinarily positive experience. Having worked in contract management for a substantial period, it's rare to receive such over-delivery. Despite the typical challenges in project management, the support was outstanding and the product actually improved in terms of delivery. We have had a great experience using Optioneer to assess route options for a new pipeline scheme. Normally, it would take us months to review and iterate on multiple routes through environmentally sensitive and protected locations, but we've been able to complete our work in weeks using Optioneer.

Using Optioneer on the Aberdeen Vision hydrogen pipeline gave us the confidence early on that all possible alternative routes were assessed against environmental, social, engineering and cost criteria and that we were putting the best options forward. When the team got out on site, we found that the route required much fewer modifications than we would have normally expected.

Optioneer has greatly accelerated our routing process, which has been a significant advantage for the East Coast Hydrogen project. In the past, it would take us an entire month to develop just one route, but with Optioneer, we can generate multiple routes and alternatives within a matter of days. The New Pipeline AI Routing innovation project with Continuum Industries positively demonstrated the tangible advantages of utilising a system such as Optioneer for hydrogen transmission route selection. The benefits specifically in time saving compared to traditional methods were clear and of real value.

We used Optioneer’s AI to efficiently seek the most feasible offshore and onshore cable routes, narrowing down millions of options to a shortlist. We then utilised the platform to further refine these routes, simply and efficiently collaborating across the project team, involving engineering, consenting and stakeholder management along with external consultants – all providing inputs within Optioneer to select the most feasible routes.

We can run a route in half a day with Optioneer compared to weeks with GIS only. As well as saving us a considerable amount of time, the platform took away a lot of the desk work and allowed our specialists to focus on what they do best. It gave us the knowledge and confidence we needed going into the HND exercise. The platform itself is visually impressive and has proven a helpful collaborative working tool for external stakeholder interactions, as well as internal multi-disciplinary meetings.

With the help of AI software Optioneer, a significant number of routes were evaluated in greater detail than would be possible with traditional engineering approaches, particularly in the offshore domain.
